Research Hub: Studies of Phytoremediation
Because this is the lower portion of the river, there is high amounts of water pollution that has concentrated here from the urban run-off as well as the large amounts of industrial space that has been developed along this channel. The water needs to be cleaned, and with clean water there is a chance for reclaiming and reuse. My proposition consist of slowing the water down and creating small pools that allow phytoremediation plants to grow and clean the water as it moves. These “fingers” that intersect the channel to slow the water, will have pier’s and bridges that will connect them, giving the users a new experience of the channel and a perspective of this phytoremediation process in effect.
