Mile 8 starts at the end of Woodley Lakes Golf Course and ends just after the Sepulveda Dam. My goal is to create an educational recreation area, since majority of this mile is dominated by an existing recreational area, I wanted to find a way to continue and add to this idea. The Sepulveda Basin is filled with a diversity of wildlife and plant material that I wanted to somehow include that within the design. To do so, my objectives are to create a new connection to both side of the river, that will then allow the use of some type of interpretive signs about the wildlife and plant material on both side of the river. From this idea, the use of the open spaces will allow for gathering spaces, and the abundance of recreational trails can somehow be used for multiple uses, not only for recreation but for education.
