GREEN BRIDGES FOR INDUSTRY

BECAUSE THE AREA AT MILE 33 IS MOSTLY INDUSTRIAL, IT IS AN UNSAFE AREA TO TRY TO ATTRACT MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY TO. THEREFORE, ANY CHANGES TO THE LOCATION ARE MAINLY FOR THE USE OF THE EMPLOYEES SPENDING THEIR DAYS HERE. THE FACTORY WORKERS STEP OUTSIDE FOR SOME FRESH AIR, BUT HAVE NOWHERE TO SIT AND HAVE AN ENJOYABLE LUNCH BREAK, AS THE RIVER ITSELF IS MOSTLY A CONCRETE BLOCK AND NONE OF THE SURROUNDINGS REFLECT MUCH ELSE THAT THIS PURELY FUNCTIONAL MENTALITY. THIS BEING SAID, A SOLUTION FOR THE EMPLOYEES IS TO BUILD BRIDGES PERIODICALLY CROSSING THE RIVER CHANNEL WHICH CREATE A NEW ENVIRONMENT OF LEISURE. THESE BRIDGES WILL BE COVERED WITH BOSTON IVY, WHICH WILL GO  DECIDUOUS IN THE WINTER. ON THE BRIDGES WILL BE NATURAL WOOD BENCHES AND PICNIC TABLES WITH WOOD PLANTERS BETWEEN THEM. SOME PLANTERS ALONG THE SIDE WILL HAVE EVERGREEN TREES OF ABOUT 15 FEET IN HEIGHT TO CREATE LOW CEILINGS OVER THE SEATING AREAS. ALONG THE MIDDLE, WHERE THE PICNIC TABLES ARE, WILL BE PLANTERS FILLED WITH FLOWERING/EVERGREEN SHRUBS.
