Family Gathering Terrace
My goal for this project is granting more people access to the L.A. River. Mile 2 is surrounded by residential area. However, the mile itself is very plain, boring and some of the areas were inaccessible for the residential. For this reason, installing interesting spaces to gather around the community, making connection to the natural to residential, and giving this area a specific reason is the solutions that I came up with. In the process of designing my project, I was motivated by Longsheng Rice Terrace located in China, and Yarkon Park located in Israel. I decided to create a design by articulating concrete river channel as terrace where people can have a sit and gather around. Also, I wanted to design an outdoor educational learning center for the residential to educate them about the L.A. River and give connectivity to the residential about the natural.
